A police report, or incident report, is a documented police event that includes the date, time, address, type of incident, adult persons involved, and a brief description of what occurred.
Public information obtained within any report may be requested. However, the release of private, confidential, and non-public data will be released in accordance with Minnesota State Statute 13.82.
There are also certain circumstances when a report cannot be released, such as when an investigation is ongoing; when the safety of persons may be jeopardized; or when investigative techniques may be disclosed. The release of information regarding juveniles is also restricted.
Reports may be requested in person, by mail, or online.
Report requests are accepted during normal business hours, Monday thru Thursday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Any requests received after hours, on weekends, or on holidays will be addressed the following business day.
Accepted payment forms: Cash, Personal Check, Cashiers Check, or Money order. Credit/Debit Cards are NOT accepted.
Depending on the information requested, there may be up to a 10-day waiting period, although requests are generally able to be fulfilled sooner. When the report is ready, you will be contacted to arrange pickup or delivery and payment due.
Reports can be picked up in person during normal business hours, faxed, or mailed after full payment is received for fees.
