West Hennepin Police Department is a Joint Powers Police department who has proudly served the Cities of Maple Plain and Independence since 1979. Top patrol salary is $83,245. Police officers with experience will negotiate lateral entry into our agency. Our health insurance package is second to none. We also offer a fantastic vacation and sick time schedule.
Our officers currently work 12 hour shifts with five days on, five days off, two on, two off. This schedule allows for all officers, regardless of seniority, to have every other full weekend off to enjoy with their friends and family. Career enhancements available in SWAT team assignments, drug task force agent, and investigations. Top of the line equipment is a must for our staff, plus we patrol in Chevy Tahoe’s.
We have streamlined the hiring process for lateral candidates, including an expedited background investigation and modified field training. Applicants must be POST eligible or hold a valid Minnesota POST license by application deadline. An emergency medical responder certification is required for employment.
