Police Officer - Part Time

 West Hennepin Public Safety is a Joint Powers Police Department that has proudly served the Cities of Maple Plain and Independence since 1979. We are seeking individuals who are committed to public safety and take pride in their work to join our team as part-time Police Officers. This is an opportunity to serve supportive communities alongside a professional and proactive department. West Hennepin Public Safety enjoys strong backing from our residents and elected officials, allowing us to continue a community-focused and service-driven policing model.

Requirements

  • At least a Two-Year Degree 
  • MN POST licensed
  • Meet the minimum selection standards as set by the MN POST Board. 
  • Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or higher, or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire. 

Preferred

  • Currently Full-Time with MN Agency
  • 3 years Full-Time Patrol Experience 
  • Familiar with LETG Records Managment System
  • Familiar with Hennepin County CAD/Dispatch

Salary

  • Starting Salary 
    • Up to $45.42/hr Depending on background and experience. 

Benefits

  • Flexible schedule/time commitments
  • On-Site Fitness Center (Brand New in 2024) 
    • Officers are allowed to work out on duty

Hours/Schedule

  • 8 and 12-hour shifts normally running 0600-1800, 1400-0200, and 1800-0600 or 0600-1400, 1400-2200, or 2200-0600.

We provide and outfit our officers with top-of-the-line patrol SUV's and Trucks each equipped with modern equipment and technology.

  • Ballistic Shields  
  • Riot Gear 
  • Officer assigned Cellphones 
  • Latest Computers Hardware/Software
  • UDE Squad and BWC systems  


Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed and interviews scheduled with eligible applicants. Interview date/time is TBD but will likely occur the 2nd week of March.
