NOTICE: All ride-along application materials must be submitted prior to being considered for a ride
As an applicant, you are asked to provide personal information that will be used to evaluate your eligibility for participation in the ride-along program. Providing this information is voluntary; however, withholding requested details may result in the denial of your application.
The information collected is used to conduct a background check and confirm eligibility. In accordance with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 13), certain information you provide will become public upon receipt. Data classified as private under this Act will be accessible only to you and to authorized West Hennepin Public Safety personnel or other officials who require it to process your application. If your ride-along is approved, most of the information provided in your application may become public record, if requested.
As part of the ride-along experience, West Hennepin Public Safety will access Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and possibly sensitive information in your presence. Applicants will be required to review, complete, and sign the MN BCA mandated CJIS Security and Privacy Training addendum. Failure to abide by the conditions of this practice, may result in criminal prosecution.
If you’re interested in participating in a ride-along, please complete both forms listed below and email them to westhennepin@westhennepin.com for review. Once your background check has been completed, your application will be forwarded to a supervisor for approval. After approval, we will contact you to schedule a date and time to ride with a Patrol Officer.
If you have any questions or need assistance completing the forms, please contact West Hennepin Public Safety at 763-479-0500.
